History
Majestic
Ham, to day, remains to be our traditionally processed
and cooked ham. It was in 1908, when Spanish couple
engaged the services of a German technician and a Filipino
apprentice who did a special formulation and introduced
a unique process of curing, smoking and aging meat which
has given Filipinos the succulent dilicacy. The ham,
using this traditional process, was sold under different
names such as Rainbow Meat, Manila Ham, Farmers Produce,
Elite Ham and Oriental Food. As the business changed
hands, it moved from Echaque to Sta. Ana to San Juan
and finally to Pasig. The culinary tradition survived
the war with the Filipino apprentice, Mr. Domingo Salvador,
pursuing the ham business in 1956 as a family venture,
and eventually founded the company Majestic Ham, Inc.
The business manufacturing process were sold to Mr.
Fernando Pedrosa and his partners in 1985. Today, two
of Mr. Fernando Pedrosa's children, Tomas and Ma. Luisa,
are at the helm of the business as they continue to
produce the uniquely flavored ham that uses a combination
of German and Chinese techniques, thus far adaptable
to the Filipino taste.
Majestic
Ham quickly became a popular food entry all year round,
a favorite present for all occassions, and a well-appreciated
centerpiece of the Noche Buena feast on Christmas Eve.
The sparkling caramel glazing and distinctive taste
are part of that Christmas tradition in many families.
Majestic
Ham became an institution and a time-honored tradition
in every family and household. Maintaining the originality
in taste stems from a commitment to remain unyeilding
to the pressures of modernizing the process unless these
improve the product and do not alter its unique characteristics,
thus keeping true to tradition.
